CONTEST PREPARATION
TAN
You've trained and dieted your a*s off for months, sleepless nights and early mornings, walking past the bakery section of the local supermarket and sniffing in the smell of those freshly baked goodies.. the last thing you want to happen is to put all that to waste and not look your best on stage.
Male or female you need your skin in tip top condition to show off your body.
I used to use Dream Tan during competition, but this year I decided to give Jan Tana a go. There's no going back. 3-4 coats of Jan Tana and my tan was ready to go, add a bit of on stage glaze after pumping up, and my tan was perfect. No trying to dodge everyone backstage as to not get smudged, and no having to just about re-apply your whole tan after prejudge because your trackies have rubbed all the tan off. Don't get me wrong, Dream Tan is a fantastic colour, it's just a bit messy.
Why Jan Tana?
* Easy to apply
* Dries Instantly so does not mess up your costume/trunks
* It doesn't Streak
* Comes off evenly and easily doesn't make you look like you have leprosy for 6 weeks after a show
* It doesn't turn you into an Orange Monster!
* Washes out of clothes
* Refracts the light as a Professional make up should so that you look great on Photo's
* Gives you the Look of the Champions.
If you want the perfect tan, purchase the Competition Tan Pro Kit -
Competition Color Mousse - The Ultimate Tanning Lotion as used in the Mr/Ms Olympia
Neutralising Body Scrub - Netralises Skins pH before Tanning
Body Moisturiser - Helps to Enhance/Prolong Tan
On Stage Posing Gel - Enhances Tan + Look Harder & More Vascular on Stage
Be careful when you purchase to get the products from the competition/on stage line, not the basic lotions. My tan this year at both the Yorkshire and Scottish qualifiers was perfect. And afterwards I was left with a gorgeous bronze tan, rather than a yellow or orange mess.

PREPARE YOUR SKIN
Whether you are using Jan Tana, Dream Tan or any other on stage colour, make sure you prepare your skin to show the colour and your body to its full potential. The Jan Tana system comes with everything you need to prepare your skin, including the neutralising/exfoliating scrub. If you are using a different colour, just buy some exfoliating gloves from your local Boots or Superdrug or something, usually only cost a couple of quid. Use daily to help get rid of dead skin cells and also moisturise afterwards.
Remember not to shave too close to your competition as your pores will be still open when you tan up - and the tan will sit in the pores to leave dark spots. If my show is on the Sunday, I generally try and shave the Friday night at the latest.
Still to come... keep checking back for tips and hints to choosing your PERFECT BIKINI for the stage.
